• Bogie, Bacall, the Phantom, and Miss Roobear.

  You will curse the day you did not do all that the Phantom asked of you!

  Do you ever think about realities?

  Mine, for example, is one where I live under the silhouette of power lines against the stars. Where I come home to policemen on my block. Where I go to a dog park and have a play date with other dog lovers. Where I stress about diets. Where everything is going pretty well and there's not much to complain about.

  Do you ever look at pictures and wonder what they're thinking and feeling?

  Take this one, of Bogie and Lauren Bacall.

  

  I wonder what it feels like to be anyone else. We none of us will ever know, so I guess it's truly one of the most idle curiosities ever.

   

  I almost lost the ring today. I had to go into an alarm panel, and it would be a safety hazard if I dropped anything in there, so I had to take my necklace off. When I tried to put it back on, the ring slipped off the chain and I caught it with my legs before it bounced off into a very literal metal oblivion. I put it on my middle finger until I got back to my desk.

  I'm feeling sluggish from not running lately. I don't like it. I feel like I've given my knees enough rest, so I'll give them until the weekend just to be sure. But I think Roobear and I would both benefit from a very long walk tomorrow morning. And maybe we'll go to the park again when I get home from work. She likes it there, and she seems to behave better since I've started taking her. Maybe it's socializing her.

   

  Anyway. Happy mayday, everyone. (I forgot to say "rabbit, rabbit," dangit.)
