  • Claire Kincaid is my spirit animal.

In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate, yet equally important groups: the police, who investigate crime, and the District Attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.

    DUN DUN.

    Everybody hates procedural cop shows.

Don't even attempt to deny it.

But...well, I guess I'm one of the everybodys who doesn't mind them quite so much.

I mean, I always cared whether there was a conviction or not at the end, but that wasn't what it was about for me, I don't think ever. It was never about catching the bad guy. It was about understanding what about it was bad. It was about the big words like JUSTICE and the big feelings like loyalty and duty. It was about the reflection on the world the show presented.

So really, I actually love Law and Order in all its forms. And NCIS. But the only thing I really liked about CSI was Grissom. For realzors.

I can't even count the number of times Law and Order in some way shape or form sparked conversations about much bigger things than a television show. Very many, for me.

    So anyway.

I've been going through the entire Law & Order series on Netflix. (I know, I know, just shoot me now.)

Today, I saw an episode that I cried all the fucking way through (and not for the first time). It's the last one in season 6, titled "Aftershock."

It's about how the whole squad and all the DA's office responds to the first administration of the death penalty in fictitious New York.

AND I WANT TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT IT GODSDAMMIT.

I would ask Derek, but I don't know how much or how little that would be asking of him, to watch it just so I could talk about it with him. He could even have it legally, if I slipped him my Netflix password (I swear, half of my state has my Netflix password, with all the people using it). We used to do it all the time, find episodes or marathons of SVU and just sit there talking about it together, spanning the miles between. Anyway. So terribly off topic.

Are any of you super into Law and Order? Would you watch that episode so I could talk about it with you? I have SO MANY FEELINGS OMG.

Anyway. It's time for bed, so I can clean and clean and clean some more tomorrow, then bike and bike and bike at the gym, and then read and read and read some Game of Thrones until SOMEBODY'S PARENTAGE BECOMES CLEAR.

    Love you guuuuuuuuuuuys,

    Christina.

PS: Seriously consider watching that episode. And then talking about it with meeeeeeeeee. Especially if you're into Law and Order. It's a beautiful bitch of a masterwork, and...so many tears.

PPS: Tiny Tower is just the bomb diggety. Putting that out there. Also, yes, I just used the phrase "bomb diggety."
